Teaching in Jakarta 101

As experienced and told by Charlotte Shipley, "technically" a first year teacher, whose travels teaching abroad begin in Jakarta, Indonesia 06 July 2011.

A friend of mine wrote to me, 'Oh my gosh, you're the "REAL" Eat, Pray, Love girl!' Well, not exactly, but after much thought, I have realized that I am the real "Teach, Pray, Love" girl.... so here I am - a journey half way round the world to grow closer to God, have a stronger prayer life, teach little Christian minds, love, and learn how to be loved. Welcome to my journey.

Singapore Day Two - Universal Studios!

Singapore trip continued.... The next morning (Sunday Morning) started out with rain.  I moved my things over to the hostel across the street so that I could lock my things up while we were 'touring' the city.  Ed stayed where we were.  It actually gave us the best of both worlds.  His hostel gave us umbrellas to use and mine supplied a locker for my things and free breakfast.  With the luggage properly stored, we were off to see more of Singapore.

Our plan was to see Sentosa Beach and play in the water, but the rain changed our plans.  We played around in the mall for a bit, then I decided it would be best if we just headed for the beach and prayed for the sun to start shining.  We took a bus into Sentosa and they let us off at the casino.... inside another mall. (go figure - there are malls everywhere)

Still raining, we walked through the mall.

Then, I realized that Universal Studios was right there beside us! (Ed failed to tell me how close we were)  It was just drizzling so I suggested we go to Universal till it stopped raining then we would venture into the sea.  So...

Universal Studios Singapore...... Here we come!
Wow, You would think that I would have done this in the States... nope, Singapore, baby!

Hershey's Chocolate!  I am in heaven..... till I see the price!  OH MY!  I talked myself into buying some Strawberry Twizzlers, though... mmmmmm.

I can't believe I am really in Singapore at Universal Studios!!!! Wow!!!

These young adults were on the bus with us coming over to Sentosa.  The one on the left was a funny and dramatic comedian.  I enjoyed watching their positive energy throughout the day.

Dancing with the Stars..... Frankenstein, my darling!

Charlie Chaplin.... be still my heart. <3

These guys were a lot of fun to watch.  Ed really liked them... We got pics with the second group, but Ed wanted pics with This one. :(  Next time, Ed, next time.
The second group.... a lot of fun.  Cutie pie on the right Almost got me to come up with the group when they called on audience participation.  But luckily, one of the others got a little girl before I could get up there.  Whew!  saved in the nick of time!
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!!!!

Meet my friends from Madagascar!!! - Marty, Alex, Gloria, and Melvin

Alex and I having a moment... OK, I'm ready to move on....

OMG! It's PUSS 'N BOOTS - MY FAVE!!!!! I LOVE CATS!!!
(Just in case you didn't know) LOL

LOL Donkey had a little fun with Ed.... then, had a little fun with me and the US state of economy.  I think Obama is losing popularity over here too. hmmmm...

Water World! No Kevin Costner, but still a good show.  Ed just about got us drenched by holding up his umbrella!  LOL

This one, I wanted to take home with me! ;)  Look at his stance and his concentration... He was like this the whole time - with each and every picture!  I tried my best to get him to laugh or crack a smile... but I got nothing.

Another little something I wanted to take home with me...

Woody and Winnie Woodpecker!  Thanks guys!
For some reason, I am having trouble uploading anymore pics at the moment... so, I will close for now.
It was a lot of fun seeing Universal Studios Singapore.  I will tell you about little India and Chinatown.
That's all for now... Till we meet again.
